"The Location is beautiful, the facility is great, the instructor
is a master, the class size is excellent and you can learn a bunch!"
-Bob K. - Illinois
Kelly Mehler's School of Woodworking is designed to give skilled and hobbyist woodworkers the focused attention and encouragement needed to build their skills, comfort level and repertoire of woodworking techniques.
To accommodate both novice and experienced woodworkers, I offer classes that cover an array of techniques and various finished pieces. The courses, both intensive and enjoyable, are designed to build foundational woodworking skills while creating beautiful furniture. I believe in sharing techniques that hone craftsmanship and will serve you well with any future project. I keep class size small so I can tailor lessons and instruction on an individual basis.
Classes are held in a newly built two-story school and workshop that was designed for maximum inspiration and function. The workspace is set up to accommodate an outstanding selection of modern equipment, plenty of room for safe operating practices, individual workbenches and lots of natural light.
The school and workshop are nestled on a wooded ten-acres that is habitat for abundant wildlife, and home place for me, wife Teri, our dog and a cat. We are located near the quaint tourist town of Berea, Kentucky and surrounded by a beautiful national forest that serves as the gateway to the Appalachian Mountains.
"The food was outstanding! The variety was good - it was all good!" - Don B. - Michigan
My goal in building this school is to provide personal guidance and skill-building techniques in an atmosphere that encourages creativity, provides relaxation and helps to build camaraderie among woodworking enthusiasts. I will do my best to help you meet your personal goals for the classes.
Please note some of the School features that past class participants have particularly found valuable:
